A Bordeaux inspired white blend of 87% Semillon and 13% Chardonnay, both planted in 1969. The wine is fine and austere as a youngster, with high acid and fresh bright fruit flavours. As it develops in the bottle the wine gains new dimensions in developed tobacco leaf, citrus and lemon characters. Complex and fine,this is a sophisticated food wine.

Aroma: A fruit salad of aromas: crisp red apple, tangy pineapple and luscious peach. The palate dominated by lemon citrus zest and fleshed out with the weight of stonefruit and custard apple.

Palate: The palate dominated by lemon citrus zest and fleshed out with white peach. A textural wine with weight and length driven by an acid tang that would stand up to a variety of food pairings.

Hand harvested and crushed to encourage skin contact to lend flavour and texture to the palate. Basket pressed with minimal settling time before transferring to old used French oak barriques for primary fermentation followed by malolactic fermentation and 11 months maturation.Bottled via gravity without filtration.

Region: Yarra Valley (Gruyere)

Season: 2013 growing season was close to ideal with sufficient winter and spring rainfall followed by a warm and dry growing season producing fully ripe, robust wines.

Vines: 20 year old dry grown neighbouring Norris Vineyard.

Cellaring: Has sufficient generosity & texture to be approachable as a young wine but will reward careful cellaring for 15+ years. Sealed with screwcap to ensure longevity and freshness.
