Twelve Months On

Twelve months on from the death of our founder Dr Carrodus and while it seems on the one hand the time has flown past, on the other hand so much has happened in that year.
Some things change and some things stay the same.
We have new owners who are thoroughly committed to maintaining the quality of the wines and the integrity of the vineyard. Their attitude in the words of the estimable Ed Peter is , "Yarra Yering is a jewel, not to be tampered with, just polished occasionally." The sale of the winery has had a very happy outcome for all of us who love it.

We now have a sister winery in the Barossa Valley "Kaesler Wines", and while the two wineries will continue to run completely separately the philosophies are in total harmony, the pursuit of the very highest quality by concentrating on the individuality of the vineyard and its expression in the wine. This provides us with the opportunity to share ideas with like minds and enhance the future of both enterprises.

The tasting room will soon be open seven days a week instead of just the weekends, and we encourage you to visit us and enhance your perception of what Yarra Yering is. The wines on tasting will change on a regular basis and back vintages will be featured alongside wines from the current release. Please consult the cellar door page for wines on tasting.

After the extremely difficult 2009 vintage we are hoping for a return to some sort of normalcy for 2010, if such a thing exists. So far the signs are excellent, a mild winter, unseasonably warm at times, has meant an early budburst followed by a couple of weeks of good soaking rain, which is very encouraging for the early spring growth. What the rest of the season will bring us is anyone's guess, but for the moment we couldn't be happier.
