2020 Halliday Awards

Australia’s best wines, winemakers and wineries were revealed last night at the 7th annual Halliday Wine Companion Awards and we’re pleased to say that Yarra Yering has once again been placed amongst some of this countries finest.

All fourteen of the 2017  vintage Yarra Yering wines have scored very well, most notably 99 points for 2017 Dry Red Wine No 2 and  98 points for both the 2017 Dry Red Wine No 1 and 2017 Carrodus Cabernet Sauvignon.

Yarra Yering’s Winemaker and General Manger, Sarah Crowe, says about the 2017 Vintage:

The 2017 vintage was close to ideal conditions for the Yarra Valley.  A cool summer meant a late start to harvest with an elongated ripening period where we accumulate flavours evenly and slowly.  Acid retention in these conditions is excellent and a signal that these wines can go deep into the cellar for wine collectors.  If I had to choose one word to describe these wines it would be elegant.

Warramate Wines also impressed the judges this year with the 2017 Warramate Syrah and 2017 Warramate Cabernet Sauvignon both scoring 95 points.
