Varietals: 100% Pinot Noir

Region: Yarra Valley (Gruyere)

Vines:  A two barrel blend from the original 1969 plantings of Pinot noir.

Cellaring: Drinking beautifully at present and will evolve for a further 15 years under suitable cellaring conditions.

Analysis: 13.5 % ALC

Hand harvested and destemmed without crushing to retain whole berries in 600kg ‘tea chest’ fermenters. Stalks employed to lend lift and structure. Hand plunged twice daily for gentle extraction before basket pressing when fermentation is complete. Malolactic fermentation in French barrels, one new and one two years old, maturation for 9 months.

Aroma: Bramble undergrowth notes and dark cherry-berry fruit flavours are interwoven together with delicious smoky bacon oak.

Palate: A more brooding and powerful wine to the Yarra Yering with dark fruit, savoury spices and moorish stalk tannins that linger for an age.
