Aroma: Bright red cherry perfume with aniseed sweet spices.
Palate: A medium-bodied yet powerful style featuring a bright cherry ripe velvety palate layered with spices and smoky tannins.
The hand-picked fruit was gently destemmed directly to fermenters to retain as many whole berries as possible. A variety of techniques were employed to build perfume and complexity. Some with 20% whole bunches and some with stalks to contribute subtle structure. Aged for 9 months in French oak, 30% new with the balance 1, 2 and 3 year old. This was bottles early to capture perfume and brightness.

Region: Yarra Valley (Gruyere)
Vines: A mixed planting of 4 clones was undertaken in 1969, then repeated in 1981 this time being close planted and again in 1984.
Cellaring: Will continue to evolve for 8+ years under suitable cellaring conditions.
