Perfume is the signature of this wine with lifted bramble, redcurrant and mixed berry fruits. Bright fruit flavours include mulberries, blackberries and blueberries. Fresh cut box hedge bringing a leafy lift. Lots of tannins dancing around the palate comfortably sit with an elegant fruit drive. The Malbec component bringing an energy and bright crunch to the wine. The aromatics and accessible fruit palate make this a deliciously approachable Cabernet blend.

Hand harvested, crushed and de-stemmed into the half-tonne open fermenters. Hand plunged twice daily with some extended time on skins to soften the Cabernet tannins. Basket pressing and malolactic fermentation in French Bordeaux all 2 year old shaped barrels for 12 months.

Varietals: 75% Cabernet, 25% Malbec.

Region: Yarra Valley (Gruyere)

Vines: Fruit was sourced from the Agincourt block of Cabernet sauvignon planted in 1995 and Malbec planted in 1990. The Agincourt block is located at the eastern end of the vineyard and is one of the more sheltered sites. This Cabernet clone is distinctly different to the No 1 clone being highly aromatic and lifted.

Cellaring: Drinking beautifully at present and made to be approachable when young but it will also continue to evolve for a further 5 years under suitable cellaring conditions.

Analysis: 13 % ALC
