Varietals: 100% Pinot Noir
Region: Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia
Vintage: A late start to harvest due to good rainfall and a cool to mild summer without any heat spikes to advance ripeness. Picking lasted 10 weeks at a leisurely pace delivering grapes with beautiful flavour development coupled and good acid retention.
Vines: A small bottling of the original Pinot noir vines planted in 1969.
Cellaring: So easy to drink in its youth and will evolve for a further 15 years under suitable cellaring conditions.
Analysis: 13.5 % ALC
Hand harvested and destemmed without crushing to retain whole berries in 600kg ‘tea chest’ fermenters. Stalks employed to lend lift and structure. Hand plunged twice daily for gentle extraction before gentle pressing. Maturation in French oak barrels, 40% new for 10 months.
