2020 Syrah – Warramate

$32.00

Violets and summer berry compote entwined with a licorice spice element. An elegant style reflecting its cool climate origins and a mild season, it features a succulent plum and a richly layered palate with a nice tannin grip on the finish.

The fruit was destemmed gently to retain many whole berries to a series of 600kg fermenters. An element of whole bunch fermentation as well brings succulence and a stalk lift. Hand plunged to aid in the gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tactile palate components. Maturation time in barrel was 15 months prior to bottling. All 228L oak barriques, 100% French with 10% new barrels.

Region: Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia

Vines: The grapes that make up this wine are a blend of the 1970 “old vine” plantings and the expansion of the vineyard in 2000 saw four distinct Shiraz clones (BVRC12, SA1127, 1654, ESA3021) planted.

Cellaring: Given the freshness and immediacy of expression it currently displays, it is ready for enjoyment right now. Expect a graceful and satisfying evolution for many years under suitable cellaring conditions.

Analysis: 13.5% Alc.
