12 Jan James Suckling ‘Top 100 Australian Wines of 2016’
It’s fair to say that 2016 has been a big year for us here at Yarra Yering, and 2017 is already shaping up to follow suit.
James Suckling is one of today’s leading wine critics whose reviews are read and respected by wine lovers, collectors, and the wine trade worldwide. He draws on three decades of experience as a journalist and a wine critic, and we are excited to reveal that he has included two Yarra Yering wines in his recently announced ’Top 100 Australian Wines of 2016’.
Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No.1 2015
Score – 96
“Amazing depth and elegance combine here in alluring style. Thi has amazing detail of fruit aromas on the nose with saturated blue and purple berries, lots of cassis and blueberries and gentle, cedary oak spices; it smells powerful. The palate has incredible power again with elegance and tannins that are perfectly ripe, strikingly long and deliver sweet ripe cassis and plum fruit. An impressive, near-perfect wine. Best from 2020 and for more than a decade.”

Yarra Yering Dry Red Wine No.3 2015
Score – 94
“This youthful, compact and assertive blend of six Portuguese varieties is a locked-up and dense wine that has plenty of dark fruits and a brooding heart of fine but dense tannins. It’s so succulent — like sucking on dark stones or graphite. Shiny, rich and powerful. Groomed for a longer haul, this needs time. Best from 2020 and for 10+ years.”
